Fighting game for MS-DOS
FROM THE PAGES OF HISTORY BEGINS A CENTURY OF WAR.
In the days of China's Eastern Han Dynasty, the young emperor's power was
suppressed by an evil regent as traitorous eunuchs plunged the court into
chaos. The Han bloodline weakened, and the land was split amongst the strong.
It was a chaotic era when bones filled the fields and fires were seen for
thousands of miles. From the flames emerged the brilliant Cao Cao, the
warm-hearted Liu Bei, the wise Sun Quan, the powerful Lü Bu and the
tyrant Dong Zhuo. From beginnings both low and high, these men rose to power
in the third century to compete for the prize: the throne of China.
From the pages of history begins a century of war. The battle, one sure to
split the sky and break the earth, is now unstoppable...

over Xiaoyao Port.”

Cao Cao was known for commanding as many tacticians as there are drops of rain
and as many generals as there are clouds. Among these talented men, the finest
tactician was Xun Yu and the bravest general was Zhang Liao, an accomplished
horseman and archer.
Although he was a close friend of Guan Yu, Zhang Liao chose to serve Cao Cao.
When Guan Yu was forced to surrender to the warlord, Cao Cao remained
suspicious of the strongman. He sent Zhang Liao to test him. When Guan Yu said
he was unwilling to abandon Liu Bei, it put Zhang Liao in a difficult
position: if he told Cao Cao, his friend could face execution. However,
withholding the information would mean betraying his warlord.
Zhang Liao thought hard for three days before reaching a decision: “Cao Cao is
my lord, which is like my father. Guan Yu is my friend, which is like my
brother.” In the end, he chose to tell Cao Cao.
Ever loyal to Cao Cao, Zhang Liao won many victories. Among them, the victory
over Sun Quan at Xiaoyao Port was most famous. Sun Quan led an army of 100,000
men to attack Hefei. Cao Cao sent Zhang Liao and Li Dian, a general who had a
poor relationship with Zhang Liao, to the battle.
Being outnumbered, everyone thought that the battle was lost and refused to
reinforce the city. However, Zhang Liao remained willing to fight. During the
night, he gathered 800 men to fight with him to the death. His bravery moved
the hearts of Li Dian and the other generals, and everyone decided to help him
despite personal disputes. Later, Zhang Liao was able to ambush Sun Quan's
troops at Xiaoyao Port and seize victory from chaos.
Among the generals who would go on to serve Cao Cao, Zhang Liao exceeded them
all in courage and strategy. However, because he was not a member of the Cao
family, he was not given important enough positions to make use of his talent.
