Fighting game for MS-DOS
FROM THE PAGES OF HISTORY BEGINS A CENTURY OF WAR.
In the days of China's Eastern Han Dynasty, the young emperor's power was
suppressed by an evil regent as traitorous eunuchs plunged the court into
chaos. The Han bloodline weakened, and the land was split amongst the strong.
It was a chaotic era when bones filled the fields and fires were seen for
thousands of miles. From the flames emerged the brilliant Cao Cao, the
warm-hearted Liu Bei, the wise Sun Quan, the powerful Lü Bu and the
tyrant Dong Zhuo. From beginnings both low and high, these men rose to power
in the third century to compete for the prize: the throne of China.
From the pages of history begins a century of war. The battle, one sure to
split the sky and break the earth, is now unstoppable...

MA CHAO |
Cao Cao and Ma Chao met to chat. Seeing that Cao Cao was strong, Ma Chao
began devising a plan to capture him. But the warlord's mighty bodyguard
Xu Chu shot a glance so menacing that Ma Chao did not dare. Eventually, Jia Xu
turned Ma Chao against his own subordinates.
Ma Chao was a descendant of a famous Eastern Han General Ma Yuan. He and his
father Ma Teng were powerful lords in the Western Liang area.
When Cao Cao set a trap and killed Ma Teng, Ma Chao swore to seek vengeance.
However, Cao Cao had a larger army and numerous generals, so after a series of
losses Ma Chao was forced to escape to Zhang Lu in Hanzhong, then finally to
Liu Bei's army. After Ma Chao surrendered to Liu Bei, he became a Shu
loyalist.
Shortly after, a noble named Peng Yang in Yi Province became reckless after
being promoted by Liu Bei. Disappointed with his performance, Liu Bei decided
to demote the noble. Peng tried to persuade Ma Chao to join him in revolt, but
the latter relayed Peng's treachery to Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei. From then on,
Ma Chao's loyalty was unquestioned.
At first, Guan Yu and the others disliked how Ma Chao was being appointed to
important positions. To resolve this, Zhuge Liang wrote a special letter
telling Guan Yu, Ma Chao knows both the ways of war and strategy, and
his fierce attitude is unmatched by most. He is indeed a luminary of war in
this era. He is of equal still to Zhang Fei, but obviously not to you.
Zhuge Liang knew that in order for the Kingdom of Shu to succeed, its five
tiger generals had to work together.
Ma Chao and his superior martial arts ability brought many victories to the
Kingdom of Shu. He indeed was a luminary of the era. After Liu Bei became the
emperor, he made Ma Chao his second highest-ranked general and put him in
command of Liang Province. In AD 222, Ma Chao passed away at the age 47.
