Fighting game for MS-DOS
FROM THE PAGES OF HISTORY BEGINS A CENTURY OF WAR.
In the days of China's Eastern Han Dynasty, the young emperor's power was
suppressed by an evil regent as traitorous eunuchs plunged the court into
chaos. The Han bloodline weakened, and the land was split amongst the strong.
It was a chaotic era when bones filled the fields and fires were seen for
thousands of miles. From the flames emerged the brilliant Cao Cao, the
warm-hearted Liu Bei, the wise Sun Quan, the powerful Lü Bu and the
tyrant Dong Zhuo. From beginnings both low and high, these men rose to power
in the third century to compete for the prize: the throne of China.
From the pages of history begins a century of war. The battle, one sure to
split the sky and break the earth, is now unstoppable...

GAN NING |
Seeking to cut off Cao Cao's ambitions, Gan Ning convinced Sun Quan to
undertake his invasion of Jing Province. He criticized Liu Biao, the ruler
of Jing, for lacking vision and having raised ill-prepared, corrupt heirs
to his lands. Noting its good landscape and abundant rivers, he said it was
the perfect place to build a kingdom.
Gan Ning was a wise and powerful general who served under the command of
Sun Quan. Even as a youth he was known for leading a band of bandits across
the land after his failed uprising against Liu Yan. His men adorned their
belts with bells as a mark of brotherhood, and all knew that when they heard
the jingling of bells, Gan Ning and his men must be on their way.
When he first met Sun Quan, he suggested the warlord capture the southern
lands of Jing and oust the leaders Liu Biao and Huang Zu. He recognized that
Cao Cao had similar ambitions, and warned Sun Quan that he would have to move
first. Huang Zu was old and his officials and generals corrupt, and Gan Ning
predicted that his subjects would rise to Sun Quan's aid if he acted to depose
the ruler. The attack on Huang Zu was a tremendous success, and gave the
warlord a path to continue his campaign west into the territories of Bashu
and Sichuan.
Despite his fantastic strategies, Gan Ning had something of a serious
personality flaw: when driven to anger, he would begin indiscriminately
killing his own men. His personal chef once fled to Lu Meng's home in
search of asylum after committing a serious offense. Fearing for the chef's
life, Lu Meng refused to hand him over to Gan Ning. Later, Lu Meng's mother
sent the chef back to Gan Ning, who immediately tied the man to a small boat
and shot him to death with arrows.
Despite these explosions of rage, he was usually just in dispensing rewards
and punishments. His fairness earned the respect of his solders.
